Character: Kirisawa Fuuko
Series: Flame of Recca
Character Age: 16
Canon: When a creepy middle-aged man on a quest for immortality kidnaps a sixteen year old girl, forces people from around the world to battle one another against their will, and commits at least a few dozen murders, who do you call to stop him? Teenagers, of course! The series “Flame of Recca” follows the adventures of a group of high school students, brought together to protect a fellow classmate whose healing powers have made her the prime target of the aforementioned creepy middle-aged man, Kouran Mori, as he attempts to gain eternal life. The group endures fights to near-death, ambush attacks, dramatic plot twists, massacres of innocent people, and even more fights to near-death at the hands of Kouran Mori, but they take it all in stride in the way only the protagonists of an action-packed Shounen manga can.
One member of this group is Kirisawa Fuuko, a high school student known more for her delinquency and picking fights than for her grades or class attendance. Fuuko is the female counterpart to your typical Shounen manga male hero: brave, strong, energetic, impulsive, stubborn, reckless, and at times a bit dense, all wrapped up with a heart of gold and an undying loyalty to her friends. While Fuuko may be a tomboy, she still takes pride in her physical appearance, simultaneously bragging about her attractiveness and threatening to beat up anyone who makes any perverted or objectifying comments about her body. Fuuko also demonstrates a profound distaste for injustice: she will protect anyone who has been wronged, though she is adamant that she will not hurt anyone more than necessary, and will never kill another person. Naturally, she has a habit for giving impassioned speeches about this topic.
Note: Fuuko fights with a weapon known as “Fuujin,” which allows her to manipulate and control the wind.

Why are you joining our happy community?
I’ve gotta get stronger – there’s no way I’m gonna let the rest of my team train while I just sit around playing video games and eating candy. So, I figured I’d look into some training camps, and this one sounded awesome! Real zombies, a supposedly unbreakable barrier, super heroes, people from all over the world, and the camp’s Director’s involved in a murder mystery? This sounds even better than any video game – so sign Fuuko up!
Why are you a valuable asset to this camp?
Hey, it’s rude to ask a woman about her assets! Y’know, usually when people ask me perverted questions like that, I kick their ass— Oh. Oh. You meant, like my strengths and stuff like that. Well in that case, I’d be more than happy to tell you about why I’m so great!
–Well, I’m smart, funny, and beautiful, of course! As if you didn't figure that out for yourself already~ But don’t think I’m a just a pretty face – I’m tough, too. Like I told you earlier, I’ve got my Fuujin with me. I’ve got the wind under my command! I bet I could take anybody in this camp in a fight, easy. Bring it on, and I’ll show you myself!
Do you consider yourself squeamish? Please provide an example.
Trying to see if Fuuko’s tough enough for your training camp, huh? I bet I’ve seen more blood, guts, explosions and violence than you can even imagine! Once, I saw a guy kill another guy using the decapitated head of another guy he just killed. Sure, it was messed up, and I never want to see another person get killed – but you definitely don’t have to worry about me passing out when I see a drop of blood. I can handle anything!
Do you think you are good in a crisis?
Like I said, bring it on, and I’ll show ya!
What if the crisis involved the end of the world?
Boring! Been there and done that, too. I can take whatever you’ve got!
Can you perform a flawless headshot? If not, and if your life depended on it, how many hours a week would you be willing to spend on the shooting range?
You guys have to get one thing straight – Fuuko doesn’t ever kill anybody, so no headshots here! But still, I’ve got flawless aim. I could hit any target you bring out, and I don’t even need a gun to do it. Fuujin’s all I need!
If there was a good dog and a criminal both hanging from a cliff and you could only save one, which would you save and why?
Hah! And just who says Fuuko would only be able to save one of them? You’re underestimating me!
I’d go for the dog first, because there’s no way an innocent little puppy is getting hurt while I’m around. Then I’d let the criminal fall for a minute or two so they’d get all scared and they watch their life flash before their eyes, and I’d make ‘em promise me they’ll never commit another crime as long as they live. Then, I’d dive right off the cliff and save ‘em, too!
See, here’s what I believe – even if they did something awful, nobody ever deserves to die. Not my friends, and not my enemies, either. I’ll make sure of it, no matter what. And that’s why I’m here – so I can get stronger and protect everybody who can’t protect themselves!
